Looking for a scope for 2 700 sa mtn rifles, wondering if anyone is using Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32mm on anything and how they like it.
a vx3 2.5-8 would be a good choice for leupold, or the swaro 3-9x36 but got 1 too many rifles and it ate into my budget for the year ;), kinda want something with dots or hash marks instead of reg plex reticle too.
opinions/ideas? thx.

My vote would be for the vx3 2.5-8 b/c reticle, but maybe its because thats the next scope on my list to get. The timberline appears to be the cheaper of the ones you have listed. I havent seen the timberlines, but I have a fullfield II and a euro diamond Im quite fond of. Also the VXII mentioned would be another good option. Maybe hold out until the newer vx2 makes its way up here.

I have to say the VX-III 2.5x8 has done a great job for me. Gotta be over 20 years ago put one on a 700 Mtn Rifle in .270 Win. Since then that rifle has spent a lot of time under my right leg on my old gelding Lou, beside me in a Ford and behind me in the left seat of an an Otter. She's killed beaver, bear, wolf, coyote, caribou, moose, elk, whitetail and numerous smaller game. Thing still shoots 130 Sierra's into a half inch and since I installed it, have yet to have to rezero it. Besides all that, she's a nice looking package too!

For clarity, I'd take a Bushnell 6500 or a Zeiss Conquest with a mil-dot reticle over a Leupold. I have purchased several over the CGN EE in great shape, at great prices and often NIB. Best of all no taxes.

Wanted a 700 mtn rifle with the 2.5-8x36 years and years, so probably go with that on 1 of 'em. the other one wanting something with more magnifacation but not too big/heavy thought this burris might be alright to try - anyone using 1? got an E1 3-9 coming to throw on cause I don't think I can wait to shoot 'em!
Like nikon but too heavy for this and no bushnell :)

That sais it all. I also have a VXIII on my Rem Mountain LSS. Great scope!
