Decided to modify myself my 9.3x57 Model 46 bolt handle for scope use. Apologies for the cell phone pics.

Before with high rings, no clearance even for the power adjustment ring with high/Tall scope rings, never mind the wider ocular lens bell.

After grinding.

Now clears all but the lens cap.

How?

Needed to grind about half of the bolt thickness.

First started using a Foredom rotary tool but soon realized I needed a larger diameter grinding surface.

Which, after due caution and patience, about 2 hours worth.

Cool, are you gonna shape the bolt handle a bit too so your thumb clears, or are you happy with it as she be?

I'll try a few rounds first and see whether it really needs it, or if I just have to re-learn how to use it.
My spoon/butterknife handle Mausers took a while before they felt comfortable.

Opening it is easy.
Since M96 action cocks on closing, that might be where it's an issue.

Fired off off 9 rounds last night to zero the first scope it ever had. Don't need to change anything else on bolt.

saweet! Go fill some tags with her now! The 9.5x57 would make a good little thick bush gun. You got a low mag scope and a decently short barrel on her as well?

Nikon 2-7x32 scope. Barrel is around 25-26 inches. Would not want it any shorter, I need my hearing as long as possible.

It's on the right side in this pic.
Left is 8x57, double set riggers and spoon handle Yugo Mauser 98 action.
Middle is 7x57 Mannlicher style stocked, double set triggers and spoon handle Yugo Mauser 98 action. with FN barrel.
