I would like to scope my No5 MKI but I do not want to permanently modify it in any way (no drilling) as this is an all matching peice of history my Opa gave me. Is there any way to attach a scope to an enfield without modifying the rifle or doing something that cannot be undone?

There are various no-gunsmithing mounts, I have one with such a mount but I haven't tried it. I'm not expecting much. I'll loctite the heck out of everything but the jungle carbine is a real kicker, it should be a trick to hold zero.
The Armalon has the best attachment that I've seen, the S&K is the next best. The ATI just uses a couple of very small grub screws to brace them in the changer slot if I recall correctly. The Armalon also reaches further forward than the others which is good for me as I find the N stock a bit short.

There's an outfit in the US that makes a very solid looking Enfield scope mount too - they're more famous for Mauser mounts though, can't remember the name. It locks into the charger bridge too, and uses a wedge to hold down at the bridge.
S&K here as well on my No5.
I've burned more than 200rd with this rig...no probs.

That has to be one heck of a nice brush gun - agile, durable and powerful enough for whatever you run into. Nice, a ton of "cool factor" too.
Thats the same method as the S&K mount.
The B-Square mount will allow a Mk2 sight to be used.

Like timberlord has stated, I've had good results using the S&K mount on one of my Jungle Carbines.
Yeah, they'll fit as long as they fit a Weaver base.

They all mount without permanent alteration of the gun - no drilling and tapping. Most require removing the rear sight while the mount is in use, but the gun can be returned to stock condition. All work with Weaver-type rings, one inch or 30mm.
All these mounts put the scope a bit higher than is ideal in a hunting rifle (the Cad-Technik highest, more than a bit) but this is mainly due to the gun, which was designed without thought for a scope mount. You can get wooden or fibreglass replicas of the No4.T sniper rifle cheekpiece to screw on top of the buttstock or replace the stock with a synthetic (ATI) or wooden (used or custom new) sporter stock set which is also a non-permanent modification or use a Beartooth comb-raising kit.
