anyone have experience using a nylon 66 with a scope. I have read they don`t hold zero very well because the scope is mounted on the reciever cover which can be flimsy. My rear sight is broken and they told me at the gun shop it would be easier to scope it then fix the sight.

The receiver must have a dove tail groove on top of it?
Easy to put a scope on it, just don't spend a ton on your optics.
What strength are you looking at?

Go ahead and scope it, the rear sight is mounted on the receiver cover also. It is just not as solid as a "normal" receiver. You'll be happy with a scope.

i have a fixed 4x on mine, and it will hold 2-3 inches at 50 yards off a bench. I've never shot it with the irons, so i don't know if there's any difference

there was a time that they came with a 4x20 bushnell - what was affectionatly known as a k-mart "special"- it's a simple 3/8s clamp on that most 22's have- as to what's wrong with yours- i'd find another smith or somebody with a few brains- it's only a screw with a washer pressed onto the bottom- if you still have the screw , you might be able to fix it yourself if you can silversolder-that's assuming its' the elevation- if it's the windage, that's a different story- as for their solution it's plain that THEY DIDN'T WANT THE JOB

You'd notice it on paper but I doubt you'd notice for plinking. If you try to correct it by tightening the receiver screws too much, the bolt will not cycle freely. It's not exacly a target rifle anyhow. Personally, I'd prefer it with the sights.
