Scoping an SKS - Recommendations needed

I have a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 AO BDC mounted on a Wartak rail and I love it. Every other SKS I have seen at the range are stock and some people have never seen a modernized scoped SKS before.

I love my SKS-M with a cheap 3-9x 42.

Next up after I have parts is a SKS-MC5D with a Bushnell elite 10x in a custom thumbhole stock. Should be sick.

trueshot mount with ncstar 3-9x42 scope works for me.. 20rd test gave me a 5 inch grouping at 100yards and its still not quite dialed in.. the muzzle break helped alot

I have never seen one of those I see it bolts below the receiver cover, way better than than those ones mounted to the receiver cover that will not hold zero at all.

I see you would have to remove it to clean the rifle though.

I have to say, of all the mounts I've tried on the SKS, the Choate is still the one I prefer. Not for an unfired, non refurbed Russian 1949, though! Pre-bubba'ed SKS... no guilt from drilling the receiver.

Can you still use the iron sites with that mount.

Choate mount would be what you're after then. Me, didn't want to drill the receiver.

^^ Ha! Someone beat me to it.

Who cares about your opinion. He wants to scope a cheap rifle and enjoy it so he will.

Amen, buddy just seems to be working on his post count. I wouldn't feed the trolls.

That being said, ive decided on going side mount PU. should be lots of fun. Ill post pics and review once its been done

I wasn't concerned with stripper clips since I went with a sks-d

mine is a 1954 Russian run of the mill sks not a collectable that's why I didn't really care if it was drilled or not.. just wanted a cheap rifle/ammo that I can shoot the hell out of stuff with lol

The True shot seems to be very good as my project is almost finished. Stripper clip usage was a big thing for me so this one seems to be the one I prefer. Couldn't find ultra low rings so I had to settle with lows as the Trueshot mount already boosts things upward quite a bite.
