Scoping Milsurp Good or Bad

I was thinking of putting a scope onto my safn-49 . I would be using the non gunsmithing type mount so nothing is affected on the rifle. Finding an original type scope and mount for the safn is almost impossible. So was trying to fing something as close as possible.

The safn-49 rifle was used as a sniper rifle mainly durning the korean war. The rifle itself is as accurate as hell . The rest will be up to the mount and scope.

Good or bad idea?

Keep looking for the originals.

I found out the other day that my shipmate (Navy Gunner) will be selling me an M44 . Therefore in the future I shall be buying a M91/30. After surfing around a bit, I've found that Epps probably have the best around. And I'll probably be getting my scope from Kalinka Optics.

What specifically should I consider (pro's/con's to scoping an M91/30)? I know that I should NOT scope if it has matching #'s and if its a shining example of the M91/30's. And I CAN scope one if its a run of the mill. Other than that, my head's in the clouds. I also know that taking an ex-sniper and returning it to its former glory is hard but worth it.

What makes a "shining example", and what does not? What physical characteristics should I look for? And finally, is there some 91/30's that you can't scope due to physical reasons?

In the end, I'm looking to get a WWII repro of a M91/30 that I can take to the range and use effectively.

Never mind the 91/30, scope your M44 !:dancingbanana:

It improved mine no end, it's now my favourite rifle. You will need to sort out the bolt handle. Drill and tap it, it makes for a perfect job without resorting to the welding gear. One other thing , drill from the inside of the action and not the outside as usually suggested, it will go much smoother and without guestimations.
