I'm looking at switching out the Vortex Sparc I have on my M305 to a scope but I can't quite make up my mind as to which scope I should get. Thought I would see what you folks thought. I torn between 2.5-10x44 Vortex Viper PST and the 1-4 viper PST. What's your guys opinion? Its a long barreled rifle with a ARMS 18 mount currently.

^Agree. You can shoot out to longer ranges with your 7.62. Why limit yourself and require a spotter to see your hits?

What type of shooting are you most likely to be doing with it?? A 1-4 power I would think you'll be good to about 2-300m and a 2-10 would be good to about 1000m.

If yur not planning on a sage stock or some other exotic configuration, take it from an old groundpounder use the sights it came with.

Ive got the Vortex Viper HS-T 4 - 16x44 on mine and love it...mounted on a M14 CASM mount...no problems so far and I can reach out to 300yards no problem

I've got a Viper PST 2.5-10x on mine. Love it. I use mine out to 200yards. Couldn't tell you how it is further than that as I've never had an opportunity to shoot beyond that. Worked well enough in the Ontario bush too, dialed down to 2.5x of course. I've got no regrets.

Although i do love iron sights I would really like to put a scope on it and it seems as if the 2.5-10 is a bit more versatile than a 1-4.

I am running a 2.5-8 Leupold Mk4 on an Arms mount with low Arms rings. About as low as it gets. 3 clicks of up elevation on the iron sight and it will contact the scope.

It was a toss up between the Mk4 and the PST line back when I was looking. In the end I went with the Mk4 as I got a great deal on one.

I thought of going the 1-4 route with a PST but after thinking it through i thought that it would limit me for longer range shots, both range and hunting. So far i think i made the right choise.
