score shotshells

The Score waterfowl loads I have are Fiocchi hulls. I have a strong feeling the ones I have are overpressure and several instances of the wads not being slit acting like slugs. I do not recommend these cartridges.

I'm a fan. It goes bang, the price is right, its canadian and the slugs have been accurate.

Mossbergs eat it up.

#7.5 birdshot - works. Kills clays

A few different 00 buck shots. (I'm guessing it's just different coloured hulls I'll check the boxes)

Low recoil slugs - hilarious the first time I shot one. The 10×12x3/8" plate swung like hell but the gun didnt kick my shoulder !

But my favourite are their 25 round boxes of 1oz and 1-1/8oz slugs with the bear eating a salmon on the front.

$22-24 locally. Accurate enough. Kick like a mule. 25 is better than 5.
Make good gifts for buddies instead of a 6 pack

I dont reload but I pick up my shells for the trash. No idea on quality if that's what your asking.

Cheers

Never had anything but good success with Score shells. I've used over 6000 of their various target loads and lots of their waterfowl loads as well. I'd be surprised to see an over pressure issue. I've personally been in the plant and they pressure test and velocity test every batch. It's a very nice operation they run in Carberry.

Score ammo is made up in Carberry, MB. Unfortunately, they couldn't come to terms with Cabela's, so they are somewhat hard to find, even just three hours away from where they are made. WSS used to have them in Regina. I haven't used them much, but would buy more if I came across them. I have several cases now.

I shot about 2000 rounds of their shotshells through my trap shotgun without an issue. I was very disappointed when Lawrys stopped carrying them.

If you can get together with buddies and order a pallet, he will ship it to you... You may end up getting a better price that way as well.

I looked into this a few years back, and I'll share the information i got from Prairie:

If they have score written on them the are Cheddite. If not they are Maxim casings
I am sorry we can not help you other than that as we buy them already primed

Someone commented about the suspected over pressure, and I've experienced the same, on certain loadings. At the time I was testing 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz and did find one of those to be rather stout. I'd guess max.

For trouble free operation, I would pick Federal first. I also shoot Cowboy, which doesn't need much of a load, and it's hard to find a shell like a 1 oz at 1100 fps loading. Or even 7/8 at 1000 fps.

For flying yard vermin 1 1/8 @ 1200 is more than enough, 7 1/2 preferred.

Their target shells have a variety of colours. I shot 10,000 of the 1 1/16 oz. which were yellow, and had absolutely no problems. They broke targets well and worked good in auto’s or O/U’s.

I don't mind the federal and estate(loaded by federal) target loads but I'm not looking at target loads right now. btw I stay away from Winchester cheapo aluminum based hulls have had them stick in in the chamber before and it was not fun.

I think I have read here in the reloading forum that all shotshell manufactures are now using the cheap aluminum based hulls?
is this true?

most shot shells have a brass or nickel plated steel head. those white box Winchester target and field loads are junk they expand way too much and stick in the chamber of my old bolt action anyway field loads more than the target ones. haven't had trouble with my SXS but they are harder to extract with it and don't shuck out of the gun.

federal bulk target/game loads that I used(paper base wad) have a nickel plated steel head and haven't had problems with them. the old bolt action extracts them and ejects them fine and the double will pull them out of the chamber and shuck them out normally.
I switched to the new imperial loads that Canadian tire carries for turkey have both number 6's and number 4's both give decent pattern out to 25 yards and are good enough for small game and turkey and if ole yote want to get close he will get a number 4 load.

I think a couple of the North American premium lines still use brass with a few exceptions. Most Win AA, excluding the new high antimony Diamond grade Sporting shells, Remington Premier, Nitro, etc. as well.

all steel as far as I know I do have older aa's and gold medal hulls that are brass I'm pretty sure. all I know is I'm staying anyway from the aluminum head stuff from now on.

the old IVI imperial has a brass head with a inner steel reinforcement I wish they still made them I have a full box of imperial 1 1/4oz number 6's im debating on using or not.
