Always liked the Savage!
Me as well, have a few in 99's but would sure like one in a lh bolt action.
Sooo.... A stainless, light weight 300 Savage in a Wildcat stock? Way cooler than a 308 win![]()

I like the 6.5x284 in the short action. I had one for about 30 years on a 600 action. People are going to jump all over me and say you need the long action to seat out the trendy long, heavy streamlined bullets . Mine was a sub 5# hunting rifle and it worked great with 125 and 140 partitions. The 130 accubond was a good bullet. For a compact hunting rifle I prefer the short action. I didn't load it to the nuts but easily reached 3000 with the 140 partitions.
Failing that build anything on the 284 case. You can get thecae capacity of a 30-06 or a 350 RM,
Build what turns your crank.I might even have something that I would take an action as a partial trade.

Really depends on what you already have one hand and what you plan on hunting and where. Please help with suggestions for these 3 future projects![]()

A 250Savage, 7mm-08, 358Winchester would be a good trio. I have a 257Rob, 280 and a 35Whelen so sort of along the same line of thought.
250 savage
338 fed
358 win with a 16" barrel
