Hey guys. I pickup up a Scorpio Em322a some years back with the 13" barrel. I wasn't expecting much from a 13" barrel on a 199$ gun but I had hoped for it to group a little. I haven't been able to produce any kind of groups at 100 yards. I put several hundred rounds through the barrel, cleaned it, tried different ammo brands, and still haven't got it to group smaller than 8".... I didn't come to complain, I get what I pay for. Hasn't anyone else had the same experience? Is this typical for this model? Is yours doing better? Is there something I'm missing? My next step is to try out a linear compensator. TIA

What size are the group's you're shooting and what were your initial expectations? What brands of ammo have you tried? Have you ruled out anything mechanical in your setup?
 
8" groups at 100yrds with that rifle would be my expectation. Ammo and scope makes a difference but it would be a 50yrd plinker for me.
If you want a .22lr expecting better groups buy one that's proven to do so.
I wouldn't spend anymore $$ trying to make it perform.....JMHO
 
Well, both of mine are able to shoot 3/4" at 50y so it may be on you or the ammo....Not even my $300 10/22 with a $30 red dot would shoot that wide....I would bet the scope is phonked because Im pretty sure I could do 4" groups with irons (I shoot at a 4" square plate and hit it 9/10 times w/ a $200 80 year old Savage mo. 3)

If you are shooting using the stock sights, that is what I would expect. With a Scope, I would expect (optimistically), 4". The long barreled versions of this rifle, with a scope, are shootin routinely 3-4" consistently with a variety of ammo. I had one, my cousin still does, and a lot of others as well, both stock and customized (couple old threads here somewhere).

A few weeks back, I bought something similar. A Nork JW with a 13" barrel (Brno 1 copy). Compared to the Scorpio, these are rough. Tenda had them on as a combo deal. Rifle and 1000 rounds of Aguila Std for $219.00; who could turn that down. Same front sight as the Scorpio, but rear sight way worse. Since this rifle will serve as a "handy" truck gun, I want iron sights, but the originals were hard to see. I have since then fitted the rifle with TrueGlow (Marlin leaver gun) sights, but have not sighted it in.

With the old sights, this is what I was getting at 20 yards, the white center is 2" I believe, second picture shows new sights:

I had a 13" Scorpio EM332X for a while as well. I never tried it at 100 yds, but at 50 yds it would struggle to get any 5-shot groups under 1". I think the best I could ever get was normally 3/4", with a one-time 1/2" group with Eley Club. On average with 10 different types of ammo it would probably have been about 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" or so for 5 shot groups. That included with Eley Club or SK Std+ ammo.

In contrast, my 20" Scorpio would do much better, normally under 1" 5 rd groups at 50yds with the occasional excellent group.

Like most Scorpios, they have a nice solid feel to lock up and are nicely finished. I'd guess even though they are currently the nicest of the Chinese rimfires (maybe?), you are still subject to manufacturing variability.

Even Jerry from Mystic Precision in his 'silk purse from a sow's ear' thread noted that the 20" are more accurate than the 13", and that individual examples vary quite a bit too.
 
It is the angle but also the nature of these short barrel guns where the rear sight dovetail is cut in the standard position for a longer barrel.

It's where the dovetail is. LOL. I got it out the the range yesterday, but forgot my phone for photos. Now that i can see the sights well, the groups did really tighten up nicely, target aquisition is quick. I am happy with it, for what it is. Sight radius of a pistol is still accurate enough for a groundhog at 50.
 
I got back out to the range today. I spent some time going through different ammo brands until I settled on CCI mini mags. The grouping on the right was the best 5 shot on a clean target. I'm not bragging but considering this came out of a 200$ gun, with an 80$ scope, shot off a shaky picnic table on a windy day, I will accept it. It still leaves me something to work on.

BTW, If I were to mount a sight on the dovetail (could be done with an aperture sight) i would need a much higher front sight. Even though the sight radius is that of a Pistol, being a rifle configuration, it is steadier and accurate enough for the intended purpose. I have lots of rifles that shoot long distance very well.
 
I love mine. It’s absolute gem. Shots below are from my kid at 25 yards. At 50 yards needs some tweaking but I blame my eyes as I wear reading glasses. Without glasses I don’t #### for ####e.
