Scorpio SKS-15 7.62x39mm Non-Restricted

$850 for a 4-6 MOA rifle. Each to their own I guess.

Think I'd rather buy a x39 AR upper and a spare bolt for it.

One's restricted, ones restricting.

4-6MOA... I bought a X95 for damn near 3K. That is still my favoured.

Buy what you want and enjoy.

Well, I paid $250 for my pretty much stock 54 Izzy laminate. With the wide price range between our two rifles I guess you really can't buy accuracy !

Have no doubt we enjoy our rifles equally.

I just bought a used one and it arrived today. So I tried to do a full strip and clean everything inside out.

I found that it is near impossible to take out the bolt. I strip it down all the way to inner gun part. I can take out the trigger group just like a normal SKS but the bolt area is locked by a silver pin that is suppose to bolt to the outer body. Unlike a normal SKS you no longer has that lever pin to release the bolt cover. Instead this silver pin seems to be bolted pretty tight. I didn't try to use a punch to knock it out so for now I will just leave it alone down to that stage.

So please let me know if this silver pin thingy can be taken out to access to inside of the bolt and should it be that tight compare to a normal SKS?

There is close to zero info on this gun except about 2 reviews on You tube plus a slideshow for disassemble.

One relief is that the previous owner didn't seem to be using corrosive. The whole thing was super dirty but there is no sign of rust anywhere. The piston and bolt and etc is all covered in stuff as if the previous owner never even cleaned it much. The inner gun part is also very hard to take out. I had to use a punch to knock it out of the outer frame in order to access to the gas block and piston area.

So this dressed up Sks can be found on EE under black rifles right? Lol
It certainly does not improve accuracy or reliability but hey money cannot buy lookalikeness right?

.

Yes, it is removable. It is a snug fit, without doubt. Right size punch and be gentle and square with the pin.

On re-assembly, I find it easiest to put the screw in one end, and put it partly through the one side of the chassis body. Then drop in the SKS portion, while aligning that pin into the appropriate position, to lock the dust cover back in.

Get barreled action seated in place into the one side. Then put on the other side, and align, and finish pressing the pin the remainder of the way. The screw on the other end will keep you from pushing it through, too far.

Finish bolting it up, and go back to having fun.

I found that I will need to put my hand on the mag to avoid FTF especially with a full mag. There seems to be some spacing between the magwell and the XCR-L mags so the mag can very very slight tilt back and forth (less than 1 degree). But I found this makes a diff between working and FTF. Is there any quick fix for this? It doesn't seems to be just one mag. This kinda happens on all XCR-L mags I tried. If I hold the magwell and partial the mag with my left hand it seems to cycle fine. Not a huge deal but oh well might as well get used to it and say goodbye to c-clamp ;)

I have 2,SKS-15's. One feeds fine or very little problem. The second one is awful, out of 40 rounds 3 didn't feed on the weekend.
It's to bad because unlike most I like the set up other than the tear down is a pain in the ass.

At the end of the day it's still an SKS without a cleaning kit,rod and bayonet and can't be loaded with stripper clips. You are giving up some of the best parts of the SKS and paying more and it's harder to clean. I fail to see how this is "better". Go buy 3 SKS,s and you won't lose a dime on resale. Buy this and guaranteed to lose money on the resale.

I'm guessing it has sks accuracy which is ~4-6" at 100yards?

It should, It's still an SKS with a different Chassis. I see Kodiak is making them same guys that are making WR762 CZ Clone. These guys are definitely making some interesting stuff. Good to see

Talking with them recently, there should be a new offering to the Canadian market in time from them, provided the R&D goes well.

Good Canadian manufacturer to support. And I KNOW that they stand behind their products.

They have my attention.

I totally understand your points but the advantages on this gun has (I am sure someone already mentioned this)

1) free drop mag upgraded bolt
2) 10 rds ready aka I can use this to shoot competition.
3) New muzzle brake and not even an A2 boring brake
4) full top rails ready. This is a huge plus! Iron sights, optics take your pick.
5) bottom and side keymod
6) adjustable milspec stock
7) pistol grip
8) This is absolutely the cheapest option to get into 7.62x39 tactical/competition ready rifle that I can find. I bought this for $650 used (1 XCR is like what? 4.5X of the price I paid?)and not even have to worry about do all the filing and fitting with the Hical magwell mod.
9) *very easy simple* mod to this gun to be able to drop mag with trigger finger, without buying expensive mod parts, which makes this even more 3Gun/competition ready.

to be honest after getting used to it, it is really not hard, or long to take it apart. I can now do it under 2~3 minutes. My JR Carbine takes about the same time to take out and clean the bolt after my range trips.

It has its flaw for sure. If I were the designer I will totally change some of the setup like moving the forend cut off point back a bit so you can actually remove the gas tube without having to take out the whole thing. In fact I would even do the AR15 approach and do a 2 part chasis secured with AR15 pins so you can take out the whole inner part quickly.

Not gonna resell this for there is no reason to. I might even buy another SKS since I got the ammo already. Besides some FTF issues I think this gun is awesome.
If I can fix the FTF this gun is pretty perfect to me.

To make my sks shoot 10 Rounders would cost close to $400 maybe even more. So this is not a bad deal.
