Was wondering if anybody can help me out. I posted in the EE as WTB but never got one reponse, so maybe more people will see it here and help me.

I recently aquired an M-1 Carbine, and I would like to scope it, since my eyes aren't what they used to be. Given that the effective range on these can't be more than 100-150 meters I thought a scout mount with low power scope would be perfect. I've looked on line and the only ones out there seem to be UltiMak, and I haven't been able to find anyone, including dealers that has one. Is UltiMak the only company that builds one of these? And if so, does anybody know where I might get one.

Thanks

"...effective range on these..." Milspec is 300.
Waste of time scoping a carbine. Buggers the balance. You won't be able to get the UltiMak from them as Carbine parts are restricted for export. I doubt anybody carries Carbine stuff due to the limited market.

This isn't a "scout" mount, but it looks like a good mount for the M1 Carbine.
From ww w.keepshooting.com a US company I have had no problems dealing with.

Thanks Marchman. I have found several similar mounts for it - receiver mount for a regular scope. Sunray; maybe I should have said"realistic" range. Mil spec might be 300, but I don't see me trying to shoot an over-sized pistol cartridge out to that distance. I knew a guy back home tha took a whitetail at 600 with a Win 94 in 30-30. It might have been "effective" but I doubt he could do it again.

Fulton makes one as well, but they aren't particularly Canada friendly. Just found the Ultimak on Brownells - listed as available outside the USA

It's just under $100, so should be good to go.

I'd like to give one a try, but my only carbine is a Howa - although I'm considering getting an Auto Ord to play with.
