Scout scope or regular on my Marlin big bore??

If I didnt have a Guide gun as well I probably never would have thought of putting a scope on this rifle. Now that I did I am very happy with it. Makes a very nice all around bush rig.

Like it or not, it works well. Very nice to carry and very quick handling.

Looks good and obviously shoots good. The scope helps me clarify, especially for target shooting & testing loads. The Weaver pivot mounts help get to iron sights if needed.

crazy_davey, nice grouping  .

I finally made up my mind and decided to go for the scout scope :D . Now which one  , I will need to go and see with my hands on what's availlable locally first and get a feel for it then decide what to get, either a fix obj or a 1.75x5 max or similar.

Thanks to all for your advice on the subject  .

Skip the scope and ghost rings and install a Williams FP336.

If you want a true fast acquisiton ghost ring style sight, you can screw out the rear aperture and sight through the round frame.

Otherwise, I can keep my shots near the centre (maybe a 5" group) of a 24" gong at 200m with mine... good enough for me. (I had never shot irons before this gun, so I'm really not good with them compared to a scope LOL)

all depends on the use. if your using it for black bear or deer you can use either your standard scope or iron sights. on the other hand if you enjoy the use of a scope and your in grizzly territory like iam your best to go with xs sight systems using a combination of scout scope and ghost-ring aperture. to do this for under $350, I dont think so!

a scope on a lever gun is like short hair on a pretty girl, it just doesn't look right.

oh yeah, for you wise guys, i mean a short hair cut... on her head.
