Scout scopes

I have couple of scout scopes mounted on the rifles but none of them are more than 2-3/4x (I have two of them that are only 1,5x). They are NOT FOR TARGET SHOOTING so no more power is needed or even desired. Where I make the line in the sand is - FIELD OF VIEW, anything less than 15' @ 100yds is useless IMHO. Integrity, simplicity, rugedness, compactness and wide field of view of low power non variable quality scout scope can't be circumvented.

Thanks. there was quite a bit of work to get it right.
I Had to custom craft a fiberglass adaptor for the shotgun pistol stock piece, and I had the aluminium block included with the shotdun stock threaded by a machine shop to accept a new enfield-threaded rear stock bolt . The front stock is a surplus walnut I picked up at a gun show , which I restored and which required routing of the stock by hand and Lots of sanding and refinishing to fit the XS scout mount . ( Note that the barrel is free floated).
Finally I had to acra-glass the scout mount to the barrel itself while making sure it was on level an true to center . ( it s actually got a positive moa cant to save on scope adjustments).
I m Not unhappy with the project even though purists will heave at the sight.
The bipod is Harris, and it will shoot verified by witness 1 moa group at 100 if I do my job right which is seldom.
But before you cry heresy, remember it was already sporterized when I got it, barrel cut down, threaded for scope on receiver and barrel ...

Did you shoot your rifle allready? I am asking b/c that scout mount being GLUED ONLY might have a problem to stay there over the period of hundreds/thousands of shots fired. IMHO in addition of acra-glassing only I would be looking for some kind of mechanical anchoring that mount as well.

Yes I have shot it but not nearly as much a I would like , I have put maybe 400 rounds max through it. so you think I should have it tapped in addition to the acraglass ?
So far I have no issue with the acraglass. The XS scout mount tube has a wider section at the rear which is a very tight fit to the base of the enfield no4 barrel and comes up flush against the receiver so it looks promising to me. That and I used a TON of acraglass gel.
by the way regarding the original thread before I hijacked it, if you have the money for it (I don t) Leupold custom shop makes custom Variable Scout scopes between 1.5X to 4X on order.

^^^ Well Steff if the base lasted 400 shots then I guess it's OK to leave it as it is. Even more so when it's a truck gun, plinking or target shooting one. If that was MY primary hunting gun then just glued scope base would bother me enough that I would seek additional mechanical fastening said base to barrel just for extra insurance and peace of my mind, especialy so when that gun was going to be used for far away and expensive hunting trip.
