Scout Set-up for BLR takedown

I have a 358 Win BLR takedown on order (likely to arrive in October). I already have the forward rail and plan to mount a Burris variable scout on it. I would also like to put a set of skinner sight on the receiver for back up and also because I really enjoy shooting aperture sights. The Skinner website is not clear whether they work on the aluminum receivers so I was wondering if anyone has mounted these on one of the receivers and if they did on a takedown model did they work with the factory front sight? I've found most skinner "Express" style sights tend to need a higher front sight. There's no reason that his BLR/BAR model wouldn't work on an aluminum receiver model (he actually lists both models because of different spacing).

A different (simple) option would be the LO-pro, but your hands would be tied for windage adjustment , other than drifting the front sight.

No idea, but sounds like a great combination! Stainless or blued?

Thanks for the suggestion GMC. The low pro sounds like a good idea I just hope that it'll clear the rail. BTW the gun will be the stainless variety

Cool rifle! Mine's also a stainless laminate takedown 358 Winchester and has a Leupold FX-II 2.5x28mm Scout scope. Moose stomper.

That's a slick rig Slamfire . I built a 358 Win on a savage short action , great rifle , but yours is more ........... moosey , if you know what I mean lol .

Mounting the scope forward sure gives lever rifles a handy feel. I have a similar set up on my 45-70 Marlin. The old Leupold M8 Compact 4x28mm has about 6" of eye relief and the XS Lever Scout Mount permits this scope to be mounted back just enough that the image isn't blacked out.
