I have several thousand .308 & 30-30 brass, some of which is primed.

It's all pooched.

Can I bring it to the smelters for cash if some if it is primed?

Also, where would that be in the GTA?

Thanks in advance peeps ;)

That would be foolish to bring primed brass for recycling someone will likely get hurt.
At least shoot off the primers so they are dead.

Define 'pooched' How bad is it? Some of it may yet be useful for people who wildcat or who make hard to find cases.

Our recycler here always asks if there are any primed cases in the lot.
If the answer is "yes", he will not accept them, apparently. [sounds proper to me]
I never take any primed brass to him.
Eagleye.

Many recyclers will not take fired brass. However, if you assure them that you have personally checked each and every round for popped primers and loaded rounds most will take it. At the price they are paying for brass now, it is worth your time and effort.
My guy refused it at first, but when I assured him I had personally checked every round he did take it and I got $30.00 for a large shoebox of brass. Not shabby at all!!!!

The scrap yard that I work at is paying $1.70/pound for cartridge brass, the boss says it is the same for primed (fired) or with the primers removed..no live rounds.
I have found many live rounds and some with the bullet but no primer ie. somebody forgot to prime it..so it probably has powder in it. One guy included a whole bunch of used copper jacketed bullets to bump up the weight:eek:
I just started loading .45Colt and found 300+ once fired cases a few weeks ago.
