Scratch built birch 10/22 stock project

Manufacturers need to take note - this is how one blends aesthetics with functionality. Your stock is beautiful, and has great features that no stock on the market offers - for instance, storing the magazines and extra ammo.

Too many manufacturers think that drilling speed holes in the handguard or putting a new tri-rail on last year's gun model is somehow useful or inspired design. It is not.

Thanks again for the kind words. My design is loosely based on a Boyd's Evolution. There are design aspects of that stock that I really like, owning 3 of that particular stock. The front half is almost a carbon copy of the Evo, with the very front being at least an inch longer, wider and square. I added the fingergroove, a characteristic from the early 10/22 stock. Again, the rear is somewhat based on the Evo, with my own needs/wants. I have seen stocks in the past that hold clips, mags, in the stock, one being the Norinco EM332. My plan wasn't to build the first of its kind, but I may be the first to make one for a 10/22. Never thought of it that way. Sure hope it shoots well.

The mags fit quite tight, only a few thou clearance, but near the front there is a hidden 1/4" x 1" permanent magnet that stops them from going forward too far. It works with the bolt in the ends of the mags. Magnets hold the front end cap closed as well.
