Scratch built Spanish Miquelet Lock

A fellow gun nut from Texas sent me these images of a custom, built from scratch, Spanish Escopeta Miquelet lock. The lock is hand built, the barrel was the only purchased part.

beautiful workmanship. What puzzles me about this one and most miquelets is that the geometry of the ####/frizzen seem wrong in terms of sparking well. The #### looks too close and the flint looks as if it strikes the frizzen square on rather than scraping down the frizzen

Looks great! I'm wondering if this is a case of not ideal design, yet it still works well.

I always like it when a design works well against conventional wisdom. It'd be fun to see a youtube video.

A miquelet is on one of my "must do one of these years" list.After the wheellock is finished. One of these decades.
Mooncoon, the position of the hammer pivot on a miquelet is somewhat higher than the tumbler axis on a conventional flintlock, resulting in a "choppier" scrape. One supposed atribute of the miquelet locks was that they would function with lesser (or local) quality flints. In some cases, particularly during the early evolution, the frizzen "hardface" was separate and dovetailed into the frizzen body enabling replacement or refreshing.

Would a arm of this period have a swamped or straight barrel?

I am not very familiar with these guns so I assumed it was at half ####. Amazing workmanship. It looks like it could have come out of a old spanish workshop.
It reminded me of this BP knuckleduster by Bruce Bump(sorry if posting this is out of line).
