I just used my FL RCBS die tonight for the first time and it was scratching the cases. It was once fired brass and I will assume something was on one of the cases and caused the abrasion inside the die. What do I do? Call RCBS, sent it there and pay to get it polished? The die set is brand new and I didn't clean it before use so that could possibly have something to do with it. My mistake either way.

I would disassemble and clean the die thoroughly and then inspect it with a strong light. The die is much harder than the brass and may well not have been damaged at all. It is a good reminder to always clean the storage goop off your new dies before using them.

1) Always disassemble and clean any dies or reloading stuff you purchase and clean off the corosion protective oils unless otherwise specified.
2) Always use a good case lube.
I prefer Dillon spray on case lube for batch application and Hornady Unique or Imperial Sizing Wax for one by one case lubricating duties.

I just had a Redding die that was doing the same thing. It was scratching the necks of the cases when resizeing. I emailed them and they said to send it and a 5 cases. 2 weeks later got it back. No charge just the $10 to ship it. Any time I have used RCBS'S warranty it has been flawless too. I would just contact them and I bet they take care of you.
Or get a cleaning brush that is a reasonably tight fit in the die with a bit of 0000 steel wool wrapped on it--chuck the brush in your electric drill and lightly polish it yourself--keep the brush moving and use light pressure. If that doesn't work send it back.
I have polished many dies this way with no ill effects on the die.
