scratches on 870

i bought a multicam vinyl kit and painted my hunter x22 stock... then the guys sent me a second kit for some reason so i decided im gunna paint my 870 multicam... ill put pics up

thanks ill send them a message

I had my 1894 cerakoted there. They do REALLY nice work!! You can save a couple dollars by sending it down stripped. Be patient though. They're quality control is high so you may have to wait until they feel the gun is done right. Personally, I am ok with that.

cheers,

+1 for Tac Ord they do really nice work I have my Benelli M4, Remington Versamax and soon their 870 to go with my other NightHawk 870. the only downside of being one of teh best is their wait time they are booked all the way up until September.

Another two places you can reach out to is Dave Fuller out at Silverdale or Andrew at CDNgunworx

^this. True parkerizing doesn't leave metal even a "Remington Police" black, it's more of a deep grey color. I think Remington SAY they're parkerized (my police is jet black) but if so..it's the only parkerizing I've ever seen that dark. Reason I say this is that I think you should consider getting the whole gun parkerized by Casey, I'm sure you'll love the results. Perfect opportunity to have him do any custom work if you so desire, but the re-finish alone is worth the $ if you ask me.

well i painted it... will likely have it redone some time when i run into extra money for cerakote... pics in first post

Ah! Now I get it. Your pics were confusing the hell out of me.

Nice job on the paint. Now go shoot the hell out of it.

i got a 870 awhile back and the guy i got it off of mad a messa tac saddle and rail on it but he didnt have the part on the receiver attacked to it so its scratched the hell outta it theres also some scratches on the mag tube where the clamp is... not pics tho... anyone know if theres a way i can fix it???

pics

That's a real nice paint job. I think it would look better without the rail and only half the size of heatshield but that's just my opinion. And 'cause I really like that paint job. What did you use for it, anyway?

it is an 870, not a $4k trap gun. clean it, oil it and enjoy. it will never be worth more than you spend on it.

$5 or $5000 gun i still like them to look nice

^I understand AND agree with both sentiments. However...if I were you, I'd ask Casey over @ Tac Ord if he can get an 870P for you, what the cost would be, etc. Compare that to the price of refinishing+what you could get for your gun if you sell it...THEN see what makes more sense. Unless you have a real attachment to an older/lesser gun (and we all do sometimes) it's easy/quick to get in too deep and end up with less than what might have been possible. (ie, an 870P maybe)

For the record, I've had Casey do an 870 barrel for me (parkerized) and the results were great. A far better finish than an 870P, but in my opinion...an 870P is a better gun than an Express-grade tactical.
