That's the barrel whip screw, and it works very well when correctly set.

Unscrew the locking screw on the side and lower the large top screw until it almost touches the barrel.
I use a thin strip of paper as a gauge to confirm the screw is not touching the barrel.
Once it's where it needs to be, you lock it in place with the side screw - done.

The screw must not put any pressure on the barrel.

hi

you mean I unscrewed the screws op rod block until the barrel touch the barrel whip screw ???

When I unscrewed the screws op rod block
My barrel does not move , it is a medium profile criterion 18.5 . this may be why

if I tighten that barrel whip screw for what flush the barrel with a thin sheet of paper
that amounts to same ????

I thought the op rod block was sufficient to maintain barrel firmly into the stock SAGE will be a bedding?

The barrel whip screw is located at the very front of the top rail cover, you adjust it as I described
AFTER the 3 large screws in the op rod guide block have been tightened to the proper torque.
Make sure the trigger group is also locked into place before adjusting the screw.

The medium heavy barrel flexes less than the standard, but you can still benefit from a barrel whip screw that properly adjusted.

I hope that helps.
