Off the top of my head, based on my Taipan X, the spring is pressing against the pump mechanism inside the handguard. Your available option is to remove the pump grips attached to the cast part floating around the barrel, which exposes the base handguard. You can then use it as a side-charger only. On this short model, it looks like you would be out of attachment points except at the top Left and Right 45 degree positions, since your side rails are your pump grips.
 
To add to my response, the spring tension is what keeps the bolt forward; I'm not sure how safe the lock-up would be without that tension against the bolt, should you want to remove the spring altogether. (If that's what you mean by "disable and lock")
 
For all you shea butter city slicker soft handed sissies crying about breaking a nail on the pic-rail pump, try removing your soaked tampon and wrapping it around for some cushioning. They keep the cost down without including things that people will likely replace anyways.

Also, I'm mostly kidding, couldn't help myself. Don't take it too seriously fellas, I'm just busting your balls. You could put rail covers on if you want, or maybe a short vert grip like the BCM. Wear gloves, idk, maybe borrow your wife's oven mitts.

It’s not so bad. I guess it depends on how sharp the edges are.

My Troy PAR in .300 AAC has the pump handle covered in Picatinny rail. It’s actually a pretty good grip. Never really bothered me.

Then again, I’ve got soft, delicate hands… the same hands that made me a popular late-shift partner. 😂
