SCSA Taipan X .223 Wylde 16.5" Pump/Straight Pull Black Non-Restricted

Shot mine again at a 3-gun match last Saturday. No major issues.... most of the time I shot it pump action, but while lying down I used the straight-pull bolt handle to rack it. I wish it had the ability to put a second straight-pull bolt handle (on the right side) like my MRA Renegade.

All of my 223 ammo is reloaded by me. The batch that was sized with the Redding small base die chambered fine, but out of the 50 or so that were FLR using a Lee resizing die about 3 would not go into battery and I had to use the side bolt AND pump simultaneously to eject the live round. And yes, all rounds pass the gauge checker so I wonder if my chamber is "tight", dirty, or I just suck at reloading.

I used two pairs of 10-round Cross magazines. All worked fine until the last stage when one of the magazines kept the bolt open after 3 or so rounds. Haven't figured out why (damaged mag? bad round?) I do drop my mags as necessary so it's possible there is minor scuffs/damage to the magazine.

Still like the gun, but pondering using the MRA or the Troy PAR for the next match in June.

I was speaking with IRG today and importing a Troy par with the 25% tarrifs is around 2500+ canadian... they seem to be a better option for sure but the price tag is just insane for a PAR... 😮‍💨

What kind of folding adaptor can we expect for the taipan. Accessories page on their website has been "coming soon" for months now.. Idk why they just didn't go with a buffer tube style..

I like the Taipan better than the Troy but everyone is different. Mine are broken in pretty well now with about 1000 rounds each so far and seem to operate smoothly. Check the front of your Cross mags for cracks. I had to retire about a dozen Cross mags as they had cracks/chips in the front and were causing feeding problems.
