The gf had me digging through boxes I haven’t opened in decades to put things away and make room when I came upon this.
How many of you guys and gals remember this guy? When I was a kid I used to race to the television saturday mornings to catch all the tall tales from Scuttlebutt Lodge.
I would have had to be about 11-14 years of age when I met him in person at the marina in Port Dalhousie on Lake Ontario 5 minutes from our house and recieved an autographed copy of his book. This is definitely taking me back to a different time........good, good memories!! :)

I remember an episode where they were fishing up in Great Slave Lake and a grizzly swam out and wanted to climb into the boat. I seem to recall they had some trouble getting the motor started.

i remember the last fishing show he made ..........poor guy was almost blind but landed a huge pike somewhere up north.

In Oct. 2000 I went pheasant hunting on Pelee Island . As is the custom , we stayed @ a B&B .
Also staying there was Red Fisher & his hunting crew , including John Powers ( past sports writer for the Toronto Star ) .
Each evening @ the dinner table , Red recited his poems with complete clarity . He told many stories of his life which
came out in his book , of the same year ,,,,,,, "Tight Lines & tall Tales".
Red said this was his last pheasant hunt ( of many years) on Pelee island . Then , he could not walk the fields , so his
crew tried to drive a few birds his way ( near the truck) . I think he shot 1 this way .

This was history for us , in plain few . I latter saw Red @ the Toronto Sportsmen's Show , selling his book .
Yes I also remember seeing his TV show . Great Canadian history . ,,,,,,,,,,, Frank

I recall him as a guest on Bob Izumi’s Real Fishing show and Bob being very honoured to have him and share a day of fishing together explaining to the audience how Red was the pioneer who paved the way for todays outdoor shows. You could hear in Bob’s voice and his interaction with Red how truly honoured he was to be sharing a day on the water with Red.
