Latest video. Looks sweet but how much better is it from a CZ?
Yeah that's what I saw too, affordable is a relative term.Heard these were starting at 1300 usd, looks like a fun one tho!

[..]Surprising how copied the CZ 75 platform is
I just picked up an SDP Duotone (steel frame) today for $1,440.00 CAD NIB from a forum sponsor. It was old stock, brought in before the dollar tanked, so the price was almost the same in CAD as new imports cost in USD. I was very pleased. The SDP is a very accurate and soft-shooting pistol with an excellent single-action let-off. Muzzle flip is minimal due to the extra weight of the steel frame, high hand position along the bore axis, and excellent ergos all around. I've owned old-school CZ-75s, CZ-75B, SP01 Shadow and now the Sphinx. The SDP is heads and shoulders above the others in terms of fit and finish. It is a really nice blend of compact size and full-size capability. And my CZ mags fit in the SDP - bonus!
Try one if you get the chance. I've read it said that the SDP is the finest production handgun in the world. That may or may not be true, but it must be right up there. The slide to frame fit runs like glass when you rack the action. Try it and I'm betting that you will really like it!
Cheers,
Mark
Yes, mine is the compact with threaded barrel. AFAIK there are no full-size SDPs available yet. The Compact has to come with the threaded barrel in Canada due to minimum barrel length requirements. The only real choice in Canada right now is Duotone (full steel frame) versus the Kryptonite (Green) or Black which have a combination anodized aluminum upper frame mated to a polymer grip. Looking around, I had a hard time finding any Sphinx pistols advertised as being available either on line or in CAF. This was one more reason for jumping on the one I found at the LGS - Phoenix Range and Pro Shop in Edmonton. They will be bringing in a few more, but the owner told me that there would be at least a 20% price increase due to the $$. Best bet if you want one might be to place a WTB in the EE and/or start calling the brick and mortar shops to see if they have one collecting dust, unadvertised. They're pricey, but they are also definitely a top-end handgun, capable of filling several roles despite (or perhaps because of) the compact size.
Seems to be taking a long time for their standard and competition models to become available. Too bad. I'd love to try one I just can't stand the Pinocchio barrels that serve no functional purpose for us up here.
I'm not a fan of the threaded barrels either. I was considering Tanfoglio but I've seen a couple of threads with complaints of their QC. I was only considering Xtreme models so I don't think that would have been a problem. On the other hand, I've never seen a bad review on a SPHINX. Most say if you have the money, it's woth it to spend it on a SPHINX.
