Searching for my ideal hunting rifle - Am I being too picky?

Wow, that savage appears to be a nice rifle too! It appears its time to call around for pricing! Thanks guys!

I went to a local shop today, and they had one of these:

$800. I'd prefer the synthetic, but that is one handsome piece of wood, especially beside the satin stainless. 30-06, instead of the .308, which I can probably live with as well. Why must I be tortured like this?

Now you're on the right track. I also shoot southpaw and have owned many of the few models available to us types....... anyways, my SS LH M77MII 30-06 is a keeper. Very accurate and bombproof reliable. The Ruger M77, MII or Hawkeye, is one of the best deals in 'hunting' rifles out there right now IMO.

Good luck.

 You should probably get one of each!

X2 on the Ruger leftie ss and I like the gray lam stock to boot. My first leftie bolt. CZ is also leftie friendly-have a CZ527 223 and a CZ452 leftie 22lr American. Pretty well made all of them and really accurate to boot especially the CZ527 and it has a set trigger too. Had the trigger done on the Ruger though-was a bit thick.
