Sears Model 8c Magazine

Hi All,

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but a quick search did not yield results. I am getting my dads Sears model 8c .22lr given to me once I get my PAL. The rifle has been in pieces for 10+ years, but on my last excursion to my cousins(where it was kept) we pieced it back together and got it firing. One drawback, we don't have a magazine.
The internet seems to know nothing of the model 8c, but there is info on the 6c. Does anyone know where I can find a couple of magazines for this model?

Are you sure it isn't a 6 instead of an 8? If it is the 6c, it is the same as the Cooey 64 . The magazines for the Savage 64 made today will work if your gun takes the metal clip. You can get them direct from Savage.
 
I'd have to take another look, but I am 99% sure it's an 8. And also, upon further searching, I no longer need this thread. Thanks for your response though
 
We have seen this question before . Quite a while back.. Perhaps even the same gun as the owner cannot get parts. I never saw an 8C but could be a strike error that looks like an 8. a pic would help. If the magwell is keyhole shaped, it is a 6C and the same as the Cooey/winchester/lakefield-mossberg/savage model 64. all take the same mag except the first 2 years of production that Cooey made with the plastic (bakolite) mag.
 
I searched the net and here is all I found on a Sears 8C. Seems no one else has seen one so I wonder if the gun below might be mistaken for a 6C. Maybe the stampings were not done very well.
There was a pic of part of the gun and it looks like a Cooey 64.

The magwell is certainly keyhole shaped. I can't really get pics as the gun is at my cousins in Kamloops, and I am in Kelowna. That is until I get my PAL. I have seen at least one other member here that says he has an 8c in my searches (it's in his sig). The gun is likely from the mid 70's (based on how old my dad is and the age he said he had it). And the mags were made of metal, from what I have been told
 
Here is a pic of a 6c barrel and it could be mistaken for an 8. However, maybe there are 8c's but I checked a site that listed sears .22's and no 8c was listed. It is interesting.

That certainly looks like the stamp, but I haven't seen it since Remembrance day. I could have sworn it was an 8. I also seem to remember the barrel stamp being slightly different. I'll see what I can do to get a picture sent to me.
 
I forgot to mention that the rifle is semi-auto with the safety built into the bolt (not sure what that is called).
 
If you use the charging handle to pull the bolt back to load the bullet, and pull a little further and push the charging handle into a spot on the action, it is a semi and most likely a model 64. what year it was made depends if it has a serial number or plastic mag which slips over an angled flat bar into the action. often a deep stamp can look much like an 8.
 
It's exactly like what you described, except that there are two positions for the charge lever to be pushed in. One fully open, and one only about a quarter open.

I must say, this is the most pleasant forum I have ever been on. I am also a member on a few others (not firearms related), and this kind of post would certainly not go un-flamed(lack of searching for answers that are readily available). I have yet to receive a message that wasn't meant to help me directly. By that I mean literally give me answers, rather than point me in the direction of answers and say "off you go" while snickering at the noob as he walks away. I appreciate it greatly and look forward to sticking to this community.
 
Oh don't you worry, there will be much shoosting in my future. I think my redneck cousins got me started on an expensive hobby. Thanks all for the help.
 
Ran down stairs cause I thought mine said 8c as well. Nope 6c.

Also, my father's rifle that he gave to me when I got my PAL.
