I'm having a problem with seating some of my reloads. The slide on my Tanfoglio Witness 1911 does not close all the way with SWC bullets. The conical bullet reloads and factory ammo works fine. When I remove the barrel, I can slide a factory or conical bullet reload into the chamber all the way but the SWC cartridge does not go all the way in. The overall length of all 3 cartridges is identical, seems that the shoulder of the SWC is the problem here. I'm afraid to seat the bullet further into the case with my Dillon SDB (which would solve the problem). Any ideas would be welcomed.

Don't be afraid to seat the bullet a bit deeper, if it is a H&G #68 style cast 200 gr SWC which is one of the most popular styles, try an OAL of 1.250" to 1.260".

With out knowing your OAL I cannot recomend deeper seating .
I would also want to know the rest of your recipe before suggesting an answer . It sounds kinda like a crimping / flaring problem to me but more info would be required .

I had a similar problem with my STI 45 and lead SWC bullets.I found out that the shoulder of the SWC was touching the lands of the rifling, preventing proper seating in the chamber, seating to 1.250 helped.

Other things to watch for is to make sure you are belling the case mouth properly prior to seating,or else a small ring of shaved lead could prevent proper chambering.

Another thing that Ive found really helpful when loading a 45 with lead is to use a Lee factory crimp die, they have made a great improvement in my STI with its tight chamber and practically eliminated chambering jams

Since you are shooting SWC you probably are not after a hot load. Seating a little deeper should be ok with a reduced load. OAL translated from a different bullet style is typically not appropriate.
