I've been searching this and another forum for info on what a good recipe would be for 200 gr FMJ .45 ACP ammo for my Norinco 1911A1 and I'm wondering if anyone sees anything wrong with 1.177-1.195 OAL? Powder 4.6-5.6 gr of 231. I normally consult the Hogden loading charts for this kind of info but I don't see a listing for FMJ SWC there.

On the 1911 Forum some users said they were using 1.2 - 1.45. I don't know how they can get them that long and not misfeed. That's longer than what I use for 230 gr bullets which I size at 1.2.

From what everyone said I took a bit of everybody's input and measured the maximum distance from the base of the case to the SHOULDER of the bullet (not the tip). I got a measurement of .95". Checking the OAL at that time I found the following :

Some pics may help explain:

The maximum OAL I found I could get without the case protruding above the headspace is 1.195. The first bullet I seated was at 1.177. Anywhere in this range is ok, I think.
Any input would be appreciated.
