See any wild turkeys yet?

I find it amazing how many big Tom's you see this time of the year. I had 5 big strutters in the ditch this morning, They just strutting in the sun, Didn't care that I stopped. In 1 month they will be ghosts, You will hear them but never see them when scouting. Lol

Sitting on my deck at sunrise this morning I heard them on 3 different sides around me. Think ill toss corn once today just to be sure they stick around

Saw 2 different flocks this morning, look like both had at least 2 big boys. None in my field though, it's getting tired right now. I haven't seen any back there since the project started. Would the running equipment have spooked them?

No I wouldn't be too concerned if your seeing them close by. They are still just enjoying the dry ground, They will spread out more in the next month. I honestly don't see many this time of the year in my fields, But they will be there by the time the season starts

I'm still seeing then around but not in my field since the work started. Lots of tiling machinery back there now, specifically where I used to see them in the mornings. Hopefully things will have settled down enough back there before the season starts

You were absolutely right. Tilers have been finished for about 3 days now and both flocks showed up this morning!

Got my targets picked out. This was the first photo I got of both birds together. I have not captured a photo or seen them together all year. That bird on the left is possibly the Tom I’ve targeted for a couple seasons. Easy to spot him with the white feathers in the centre of his fan.
