Seeing Double!!!

First off, you are one lucky bugger.

I have a question re: regulation; if you bought a box of the TBBC's, and figured out the velocity with a chronograph, could you not simply work up a load with the same bullet to the same velocity?

Of course switching bullets is going to require starting from scratch. I have a buddy who was really interested in that rifle until he found out what it was regulated for.

I don't think getting a handload to regulate should pose too big a problem but it will likely be finnicky and take quite a lot of tweaking to get it right. Still, you can buy a lot of 4831 and TBBCs for Two hundred some dollars. Hell, the Hornady stuff might shoot close enough for practice. Definately worth a shot!

My wife just brought me a cup of tea whilst I was reading CGN. She said "Arent I the best wife in the world?'. I said "I always thought so until a couple minutes ago..."

No more guns for me for a few days....!

BUM,
Let me get this straight, you re going to Zim this summer for Buff, your wife begged you to buy a double rifle in 470 Nitro Express...and you can't take it to Africa??????

I got news for you, if that rifle does what it is supposed to do, elephant etc your daughter will never go to University.

Toooooooo Cooooooool

There are so many things that come to mind when I read this thread.
The thrill of a trip to Zim in the near future, a wonderful and encouraging wife, an excellent rifle for big game and dangerous game and a real investment in the future.
But mostly what I think is you suck and I hate you. :D

P.S. I'll be expecting a range report and a vid of you shooting that baby. ;)

Congrats on the Double, I have not looked at Tradeex site for a while it is nice to know they have the Merkels now. I also bought a double from them (good to deal with) and may get a Chapuis in 9.3 some time in the next few years although I deserve it right now, dam it.

edit: I just looked and they have a 470 Krieghoff for $11,000 NICE!

Brass, Dies and Bullets are on the way from TradeEx. Thought there's something kind of wrong if you're taking a Double 470 out to shoot at -35C!

Actually I reckon there's something wrong if you can't tough out the -35 C to try out your cool new 470 NE double! :D
And to be truthful I don't hate you and I can't whinge.
My missus let me buy a Ruger No1H in 450/400 NE with our baby bonus from the govt.

We just had a baby...where's my government cash?

And as soon as I get some loads together I'll be touching them off. Or, as soon as Woodleigh get off their duffs and dole out some load data.

Congratulations BUM!

Beautiful rifle!

You must have agonized over the 500 vs 470 thing?
Given Canadian bullet availability I think you chose well.

We need to have a CGN boomer shoot!
