Seeking advice/experience on a Webley and Scott revolver quest

Read the very informative story in the current NFA magazine on the author’s quest for a W&S aka, Enfield 38S&W 38/200 revolver.
He said he researched the s/n on Armsresearch.co.uk site & possibly subsequent Webley & Scott.com.
Seems you cannot just look up a serial number, but send them £20 for a lookup, Kinda like the official Colt Archives letter request which is U$100.00-$120.00 request.
However, the site claims that most of the pre-WW1 records are lost, incomplete, or unavailable. Email requests for lookups are unavailable as you must submit a request form using snailmail & payment.
Trying to decide if it’s worth the effort lookup for a Boer war MKIV.
Anyone satisfactory use this service?

Yes, I had a Webley Mk V researched. From the information I received I was able to do more research and found the original purchaser was a young officer from Canada.

Harold Alexander Frater Gibson. Born 1895 Age Killed at Regina Trench 08 Oct 1916 Rank Lieutenant. Body not recovered and his name is engraved on the Vimy Memorial

I donated the revolver to the Royal Regiment Of Canada in memory of his service.
