I am looking for an Ithaca lever action 22 (Looks like a miny Winchester). Haven't seen one for a few years but I always enjoyed the performance of the last one I used.:50cal:

There was one that I saw locally a while ago. (I'm pretty sure its long gone)

Did you know that the new Henry lever .22 rifles are copies of these Ithica's?

what you're looking for is the ithica m49r, and thank god, they've been gone for years- the one i had was a real pos- with standard 22 ammo, the receiver screws were always backing out, the receiver was aluminum, and the barrel eventually developed a gas leak at the chamber- you couldn't mount a scope, and this was all with STANDARD ammo- what was happening was the bolt wasn't mounted quite tight to the chamber when locked, and the hammer would actually move the bolt forward when fired- basically, an out of battery fire- sold it and got a remmy nylon 66

Have seen a couple of those old Model 49s coming up for auction. Not much interest in them. One looks ratty, other looks like new. I've never heard a good word said about them. I collect older .22rf single-shot pistols and rifles. For that reason I've been tempted to get a 49 and MAYBE even one of those little Savage 101s that were a mini-Colt SA.

They're around, just gotta' keep digging for one. Good luck with the search.

Best regards, AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! ~ ~ ~ mauser

Here's the ratty one. Someone has already bid it up to $70 so far!!! (?)

A friend has one I was thinking of buying when I was just getting my PAL. I thought it was a cool little rifle.....until I bought a Winchester 9422. He only wanted $150 for it but after shooting the Winchester I didn't bother with the Ithaca.

150 for a gun that was 49.95 new- nice work if you can get it- i still say it's pos

lever .22

better choices would be Winchester 9422 or 9422 magnun , Marlin 39 A , or Marlin 39 Mountie ( 20 inch barrel ,) Henry 's .22 lever guns are o.k. , Browning made a lever .22 too , but to me it never had that big gun feel .good luck Joe
