Hello 1911 Types

I am considering the purchase of a used Springfield Longslide. I'd like to hear any opinions or experiences with this gun. Accuracy and build quality are important to me.

I'm not going to back westicle on everything.. I had a V16... Nice gun super accurate after I got the sight put back on... I've had 3 brand new SA's over the years and I've had to replace all of the factory sights within a couple hundred rounds becuase they would throw them.. SA said to send them back I sorta laughed..

uncool about the sights.... I have only owned one Springfield and it was a loaded model with no problems,

I just think the long slide would rock shooting armco's 45-08 rounds and the only thing you need to replace is drop in a heavier recoil spring.

Two loaded models, on both the rear sight always came loose. A little green loctite retaining compound fixed that, Or you can lightly peen the edges of the dovetail. Springfield service sucks, they want you to send it back for everything and if you want advice or to do it yourself they just ignore you. They are accurate, mostly reliable, but the blue is only microns deep, a kydex holster eats it right up.

My experiance

Darren

I have never had the sights shoot loose from my Springfield 1911. Now, my Colt lost one, as did my Remington Rand, but not the Springfield :) YMMV
