Seeking other 700s in 7mm-06!

... and Remington recalled them... but not all were returned... I read somewhere about 160 were returned... how many are still out in this condition? Not many I would venture. It's got to have some collectible value...

Collectible or not, it is a pretty rifle... it deserves to get out and stretch it's legs... go on... take it for a spin.

7mm06

I assume you mean .280 Rem and 7mm Rem Express chambered rifles? Or are we talking stamped 7mm-06? The .280 Rem came out in 1957 IIRC thereby ending the 7mm-06 wildcat five years before the 700 was put into production. I find it weird the factory would stamp one with the wildcat designation. Cool if they did, definitely something I did not know.

While Remington was remarketing the 280, they released some labeled 7mm-06, and the 7mm Express. - dan

Compiled a list of rifles today in said calibre. I'm at 16 verified, 3 not. 2 ADLs and AFAIK the rest BDLs. 2 BDLs NIB. 1 BDL with box. 2 of the 3 unverified may be the same gun. 3rd is serial number unknown. 2 BDLs are in my possession. 3 came for sale from the same seller in the States in the last month. The only other person I knew with more than 1 but no longer. Still only have 3 verified built December, '78 but there may be another according to a serial number.

Wondering what a rifle like that would be worth to a serious Remington collector.

If they made the 7mm-06 rifles, did they make some 7mm-06 ammo as well?

The last 3 rifles I saw for sale in the US were 4500 each!

There was ammo so headstamped. There are 30 or so known cartridges in the US, supposedly one other full box-altho not verified- and our own Clay Smiley from Prophet River claims to have had a full box-but instead for selling it to me he gifted it to someone out east. I just want pictures if you're reading this altho that box would look good between my two BDLs! Check out the early 7mmExpRem cartridge boxes for their order number! One thing didn't change for a while!

Yes, bought at Sears in Halifax back when they still had firearms at such stores. I bought a lever action 22 and that box of ammo on the same day. They had about three more boxes there . Hopefully, those boxes are still around too! :)
