Hey friends,
Going to the Minden/Kawartha Lakes area this week, hoping to make it out to crown land with the muzzleloader.

Never tried to find crown land before, can anyone give some advice as to how I can safely do so?

Given the weather forecast, you are a hardy soul to want to be shooting a muzzleloader this coming week. Deep snow, too. Would you be parking at the side of the road and going on foot/snowshoes?
There are townships which allow hunting, but not target shooting.
If you do a bit of searching on the 'net, you can find a map showing crown land.

My my reading, looks like Kawartha Highlands and Queen Elizabeth II wildlands are both options. Is that accurate?

I'd just try and find a cleared trail and get up somewhere acceptable on foot. I don't have an outdoors card or what-have-you, could one say one is is simply sighting in ones rifle?

Aren't those both Provincial Parks?

If a trail has been cleared since the dump of snow last Monday, there's probably a reason for it having been cleared.

Shooting in QEW is an absolute no go

There are County Forests on Hwy. 45 east of Norland on the way to Kinmount. I have no idea if discharge of firearms is permitted. You could call the County bylaw office and ask.

Hey folks,

thanks for the input. YOMOMMA I was reading up on that last night but thank you for pointing it out.

If anyone has intel I would appreciate it, I am trying to use the atlas but it's kinda hard to parse whats legal for shooting and what isn't and so I am hoping someone who knows the area can help me out.

Calling the county bylaw office sounds smart and good place to start.
