I am looking to find out the saleable value of an AR15 stripped upper.

It is unmarked by manufacturer. Flat black paint scheme. Has the forward assist & shell deflector. Has a flat top picatinney top rail for ease of mounts. Not used or a take off, but some scuff marks, about 98% new condition.
Could use some help/advice on what to ask for it for a EE post for AR15 parts.....thanks...

Are there any manufacturer's distinguishing trade marks on it? Keyhole, L, CM, EK, D etc?

With no markings to use as proof of manufacturer's origin, as BBB says, you're probably looking at $60-80. depending on condition.

Without details I'd say $60-$100 but $100 is pushing it for a used with no markings. If you can post a picture or two it might help, close-up of the right side to see if it's marked with one of the symbols Trinimon mentioned.

Thank you for your replies. Acting on your advice, there is a symbol on the right side above the forward assist. It is small and appears to be an old style skeleton "keyhole."
I did however underestimate condition. The upper is new, unused with a minor trace type mark, not really a paint destroying scratch..

Cerro Forge

From an ar15 user:
there are only a handful of forges that make uppers:

Cerro (keyhole), Cardinal (bird head), Anchor Harvey (splintered A), Alcoa (AF) are probably the most common

from there a company does the final machining, finish, and assembly.
most of these companies do NOT mark their uppers with anything "special", CMT comes to mind.
some companies like Colt and LMT, do mark theirs.

the forge code means very little

Well, good news, your upper just increased in value to around $130.-$140.

My question is why is the upper painted? It should be anodized black. If it's painted black, it's either not a quality upper, or the previous user painted it to cover something up.
