Thinking about a Marlin 1895g with a redfield revenge 2-7x34(36? can't remember) seems like it would be a great combo for deer/bear at typical NB ranges and still be super fun to shoot at the range, what do you guys think? any comments on either one of these products?seems like people are talking about marlin QC being back on track but I would ofcourse handle it in the shop before I ever put down my cash as is only sensible with any firearm.
Thanks,
Hunter.

Think about a JM stamped older model before Remington mucked things up 1895 if you want a better made piece IMO....Gravel agencies is busy "fixing "all the guns that didn't work NIB.......Harold

Not enough jam.

You need a Ruger No. 1 chambered in .416 Rigby or better...

Preferably something in the Nitro-Express family.

I hear N.B. deer are tough ones, that managed to escape from N.S... LoL !

* jk'n, the set-up you mention should be fine.

I know that Epps thoroughly checks all of theirs before listing them for sale, and I bought a nice new one from them with zero issues. It feeds and fires everything I give it, and it's plenty accurate for anything I intend to do with it. Naturally, I can't say that Remlin's QC is back on track, since I've only handled this one rifle, but it appears that good ones are slipping through more often these days.
