I know for the boys in B.C it is a regular occurance, but in Sask they are a rare sight.

This was the first time I have seen one in Sask.

Was North of Caribou Creek on Highway 106, just north of Sealey Lake in the hills.

I had my camera with but by the time I turned around and went back and looked he was gone.

Would have made a cool pic as the trees were covered in frost and light fresh snow.

Coming across a wild cougar in the bush is a rarity, ANYWHERE.
Congrtaulations on your sighting.
Are there deer that far north? Major deer populatins used to be close to the farms, like north of Love/Torch River area, but few deer a little further north.

I have seen Deer in that area but it is NOT heavily populated. There is an Elk herd in that area. Lots of Rabbits, beavers, coyotes, etc.

There have been Cougars in that area for quite some time from talking to different people.

A guy told me his Uncle used to own Little Bear Lake Lodge and he said he caught one on his trapline in the 70's, another very RARE occurance.

Seeing a any wild feline in the bush is a treat, hearing a cougar while you are alone and unarmed is discomforting to say the least. The unarmed part was not a good idea.

There have been a lot of sightings in the Weyburn, Trossachs area in the last few yrs, and Lake Alma area also, which is about 35 or 40 miles SW of Weyburn.

I have lived in BC all my life,[60+ years] except for two short work stints in Alberta, hunted extensively in prime cougar country, and still the number of sightings I have experienced would be under a dozen. It is a rare occurrence indeed! Savor the privilege. Regards, Eagleye.

In Ontario sightings are rare. And when they are reported the MNR's position is that it's a mistake or the animal is an escaped pet or something like that. We never seem to be able to come up with a photo or scat to confirm a sighting but who knows...?? I have an associate who swears by a sighting and I believe him. Just too bad something solid in the way of evidence can't be presented.
