Hoping for some advise before i try this. I got a tc encore pro hunter in 308. I've been working on a load for it and having trouble getting decent groups. I think i finally found 40gr of benchmark gave decent results. I set 6 groups of 3 at different depths. The last group the bullet is jammed right into the rifling. Just wanted to see if this would be safe for a test fire for 3 rounds before i did it. I'm also using berger vld 168 bthp.

According to Sierra's online data, 40gr Benchmark/168gr is close to max.
Jamming does raise pressures.
I've needed to drop the charge 1/2 to a grain or so, when going from jump to jam.
If your deeper seated test loads are showing any signs of pressure, it may serve you well to halt and work up those jammed loads as a new load developement.
