Select Shooting Supplies 2019 IPSC Canada Shotgun Championship

First ever Canadian National Championship for IPSC Shotgun.

We're planning 18 challenging stages to determine who will be the first Canadian shotgun champions.

Does Crumlin not host this every year? I was there last year so how is this the first?

As a complete noon, what does this shoot entail, what is needed? Or is this only for those in the know.

Being a current member of IPSC, shotgun or someone willing to lend you one, shotgun shells (bird, buck, slug), someway to carry said shells and required safety equipment (eyes/ears)

Lots of videos on YouTube that will give you some understanding of action shotgun shooting and what to expect at a match as far as a course of fire.

1) You will need to have taken the IPSC Black Badge course, and be a current member of IPSC.
There is probably still time to acquire this rating if you don't have it already. It only takes a weekend to get it done.

2) A shotgun. There are three divisions to choose from. (Pump, auto-loader, or open division.)

Choose which division you want to shoot in first. Then pick out a shotgun that fits into that division.
Benelli and Remington are the most popular brands. But there's also plenty of guys running Mossberg, Stoeger, Winchester, etc.

3) Shell caddies. You'll want to learn quad-loading if don't already know how to.
IPSC rules require your caddies to be on a belt at waist level. (no chest-rigs)
The longest stage allowed is 28 shots. So bear that in mind when you decide how many shells you want to carry on your belt.

Here's a link to the current rules;

An over simplified and technically completely wrong summary.
There are 4 divisions (forgot a rarely used Modified).
You can enter all 4 divisions with a "pump" (and we've seen people winning matches with it, especially in Canada), with a lever-action shotgun or even with a break action one (totally not competitive).
An "auto-loader" can run in 3 divisions.

So, correct division names are Standard Manual, Standard, Modified and Open. You can see requirement for each division in Appendix D of the rule book http://www.ipsc.org/pdf/RulesShotgun.pdf

Gee, really?

I wasn't trying to impress anyone with fancy words.

I was trying to explain it to someone who refers to himself as a "total noob".

I said technically. Wouldn't say that if you'd mention division names with the same descriptions.

Also worth to mention that pump action feed from box magazines is also - Open. Or pump that uses speed loading devices. Or pump that has ports on the barrel or other compensator. Or pump that has optics on it...

Yea, really!

Wow, I had no idea. That's truly amazing. LOL.

You might had an idea, but not explaining it well. I've seen few people regretting buying ported auto-loaders... and other things.

Registered the match, just waiting for the approval to squad, unless the organizer take care of the squading. Can’t wait to be September, on the other hand winter is around the corner .lol
