Sellers Remorse

True enough. A while back, a buddy of mine was going through a time where financially, things were a little on the tight side.... Over the years I've had a couple of rifles given to me so, long story short, I gave the 300WM to my buddy for a birthday gift and so he had something appropriate for an upcoming Moose hunt.

You are a good man Johnn... Thanks.

I have nothing to compare to the experience of some...... aĺl of my regrets involve selling under value due to lack of knowledge (a schmidt rubin and an enfield and a host of levers in many cals).... if I like 'em I keep em.....

There's been a few over the years, this one and a pre 64 model 70 featherweight in /06 hurt the most though.

Kicking oneself is a common theme here. Mine: A Cooey Model 600, with a Weaver 3X scope. Sometimes the "ones that got away" don't have to be expensive or rare to wish we had held onto them. Now I wish I hadn't parted with it because it was my first, and it took down a lot of groundhogs. Sure, I could buy another one at a gun show this weekend, but it will never be the same as the first one I owned. I also learned, late, there is pride in owning guns or ammo that were Made in Canada.

The little rifle cost me under $30, and I bought the scope by mail order for $7 including postage. That $37 represented a lot of hard-earned snow shovelling and lawn cutting money at the time! I sold it, after four years, because I needed the cash to buy its replacement, which I still shoot often.

I turned down a 20mm Lahti rifle with a box full of mags while I literally had the money in my pocket. I also moved too slow and missed a Mauser Oberndorf 8x60 a couple of years ago.

I miss my 50, wish I had another.
I sold it for two reasons.... I was having a serious health issue that required my full attention and also because all the local ranges would not allow any 50 BMG - chambered rifles.
The latter was solved by a two hour drive into the mountains and a quad ride into a remote valley and that was a lot of fun just to be able to stretch the big gun out and not worry about bothering anyone, but my physical condition at the time would not handle it.
I still have two presses with 50 cal capability and lots of components so if I sell some ' toys ' and scratch up the loot I could have another 50...

My 1983 Ruger Mini 14 I bought brand new with the folding stainless steel wood stock and the Spanish Mauser Mannlicher style carbine that I completely re-finished, she was mint!

the one I miss the most is my H&R full wood stock single shot 30-30. The only one I have ever seen. If memory serves, it may have been 157 model. Sure would love to find another one. Bought it from a friend for only $100. Why I sold it, I'll never know.:(

The one I miss the most was a Pre-64 M70 put together by Riverhurst Rifle Ranch. It was a .270 with a L Johnson left-hand twist barrel with one of the weight forward contours that held like it was cast in concrete. Worst copper fouling barrel I ever owned and I traded it in for a stainless plastic monstrousity at the old Dixon's gunstore in Saskatoon. Regretted it ever since, and if some kind hearted soul could see their way into letting me buy it back..........................................................................

What Rifle do you regret selling the most?.

Not the one that got away, or the one you should have bought......
The one you had to sell to buy your first house / get you through the lean times, or the one that was passed down and you foolishly sold.

It's a tough pick for me,
But I think it would have to be my unmolested M700 classic in 35 Whelen. 1/2 moa out to 300y.

^^^i sold my 3 month old FDE "TAR-21" stamped Tavor last year after going through a bunch of operations in my hands and arms that was sure to cause money to be tight for us over the winter. Although in the end it WAS still tight, the money ended up buying the wife an 05 Chev Blazer 4x4 to get around in the winter with. (Great deal BTW!)

The wife still has the truck, I still miss my Tavor! :(

Ps: I ended up getting an old AR, but it's still no replacement:(...still miss the Tavor.

When I was a teen my mom bought a .308 bolt action that was used just for me to shoot. It had full Mannlicher wood, I believe a 20" or so barrel, drop plate magazine and I think it had a Mauser type action. I was young and have a lot of great memories out with my mom, her brother (now passed) and other family hunting with it: I paid more attention to the family than the firearm so I don't remember it overly well, but I wish I did. Life got in the way and when we moved she had to sell it.

Thinking of buying one like it in .17HMR, maybe a CZ, just for the memories because I know I'll never get that one back.
