hey i picked up 1000 S&B small pistol primers today, anyone use these? what are peoples opinions of them? good? bad? got them for 30 bucks at a gun show so for that price i couldnt say no.

I wish they were approved for commercial sale in Canada is all I can say.

Haven't tried their primers personally, but love their ammo. S&B have been making ammo for close to 200 years, I'm sure they know their way around a primer...

Yes, and I bet I know who you bought them from;)....I have been buying those from Gregg for quite awhile now, and you will not be disappointed....Quality primers at probably the best price you will find...Enjoy....

Primer Hardness

A question for the guys using these, how do they compare to federal for hardness? Or are they hard like Winchester and CCI?

Thanks

spoke with a reloading nut at the range, who has fired 10's of thousands of rounds of reloads in pistols, and he claimed they are the most consistent primers he has ever used in his life. That say a lot. They may not be the hottest hardest or horrendous, but they are without a doubt in his mind the same from beginning to end and even from lot to lot. He couldn't be happier. I have yet to try them.

They are approved in Canada. We stock both Small Pistol and Small Rifle S&B primers. The prices are more than reasonable on them as well.

I'll ask next the first week of Jan when the distributor opens back up again. I think the Large Rifle come in 500 packs.

HOWDY ; I used some Large pistol s+b primers ,found them to be hard like a winchester. Worked well if well hit. They have a sharp edge and did not like brass with sharp edge to the primer hole. Worked fine in Remington 45 colt brass . Also used them in winchester 38/55 rifle cases and light UNIQUE loads, very nice easy priming here. I usually use Federal primers but would use them again if needed .

Any chance of getting some small pistol magnum? Or would small rifle primers be a good compromise (using it for .40 major p.f. ammo)
