Selling coyote pelts

I was wondering...

I shoot a few coyotes and end up dicking around with a few pelts attempting to make the odd item. This year I'd like to shoot a few more, but don't want them to be wasted. Does anyone know of a hunter or trapper who would be interested in taking them?

It could only be 20 or 30, or could be many more, ...

Even if I could find a place to do the pelts for me, I'd certainly pay.
but otherwise, I'd be quite happy to give them to someone who makes a living at it.

I simply hang them in the shed from the rafters until they freeze like blocks.

I remember running my hand down a coyote pelt when I was a kid. I have no idea as to the particulars like age, ###, season or conditioning of the pelt but it felt nice. I could see a lot of nice things being made out of it.

Isn't there some kind of stamp that you have to get from the MNR to be able to sell/possess hides???

Not sure, I'll have to do some more investigating. I was however direcetd to the hutterites. I've been told they might do the pelts up nice for me for about 10$ each. I'd be quite pleased with that.

If you get the Hutterites to tan a few for you I will buy one when it is done if the price is reasonable! Let me know.

You can pay whatever I pat the hutterites. I have been estimated 10$ a yote.

I have some good areas, a truck, and a woodstove in the garage just in case an after hunt beer find it's way out there.

They might buy the hides for ten dollars but there is no way they will tan them for ten bucks.If they will they will have hundreds on thier hands.

there are also sometimes guys that will tak the yote and skin it and sell it taking the skinning fee and giving you the rest...there were guys that did that in southern Alberta.....I have traded muskrat hides years ago to some huderites for smokes. You never know what they might trade you for them in the round or skinned. Mabey some of their hooch

Call me skeptical again but out here they'll pay ya a small amount for a coyote in the round but to skin and tan you are looking at $50 plus! There are usually a few buyers that will pay a fair price for coyotes in the round. I know guys were getting $20-25 out here last year.

I'm thinking they will skin the coyote and maybe put on drying boards if you're lucky?, for ten bucks.

You're "best bet" is to sell the coyotes for 15 to 20 bucks each, to the huterites or a local fur buyer or trapper(trappers are tight with a buck), in the round (whole) have them do the work and you just walk away.

That leaves you more time to hunt and get paid for you're ammo, if nothing more.

No mess, no fuss, just shoot coyotes and dropem off. and get paid !!..sweet.

I'll have all the info Saturday, as of right now I have no clue. I have never ever sold a coyote in the round, in the squared, tanned or sunburned or any other way

Dont forget to negotiate on the clear white bellied coyotes.

They fetch top dollar, and it's prolly what you have most of out west.

I never mentioned tanning by the way .17. Just skinning raw pelts.
Beware of the green bellies! They bring less cash.....

PS: When I was in Inuvik NWT on business, the Northern Store had some wonderful tanned pelts.
Of course while admiring these nice wolf/coyote pelts I naturally asked, what local trapper harvested them.
They (store staff) replied sincerely, all thier best long hair pelts came from Alberta. Perfect environment to produce top quality furs!
