Selling Handloaded Ammunition

Having a discussion with a friend the other day, we were wondering if it is legal to sell reloaded ammunition at firearm shows and events. What is the procedure to do so? Is there a special license needed from the CFO of each province you intend to sell in? or is it just a matter of renting a table at a show and stockpiling enough reloads to make it worth while? cant say ive ever seen a table selling handloads at a firearms show, but then again I was never really looking for one either.

Licensing for ammunition manufacture, for resale is the responsibility of Natural Resources Canada.(NRCAN)

Getting their blessing to re sell reloads is a long and convoluted process.

You need a license and every load you sell needs to be tested by someone (see above) . So if you sold 230gr 45acp and 200gr 45acp each would need testing.
 
In addition to the above comments,

You'll need a dealer licence for ammunition sale from the CFO if you plan on selling it commercially.
It's cheap and usually pretty easy to acquire.

Also, if you have stuff that you are fond of, investigate liability insurance.
Brace yourself for the first quote.
 
yep and do it without the proper approvals and something happens better have real deep pockets since the buyer has every right to sue you for any damages it causes

I asked the same question to a person who has their licensing etc all in place and operates a small business in BC. At the end of the conversation I didn't think it was going to be worth my while. Its a lot more involved than I had thought. lots and lots of paper work, inspections, sending ammo for testing and approval etc.
 
Better to load up empty cases and make key chains of them to sell for a couple $ each if you just want stuff to sell. I went crazy with that ages ago and still have leftovers...

Per last doc from CSSA
When you are reloading you should be in an area dedicated to reloading, no fumes, matches, smoking, no lights that can cause an explosion. Only 2 kg can be out of the locked box and in the room with you. At the end of the session all the explosives must be returned to the locked box.And you cannot resell or give away these cartridges. If you intend to, you need a license and more restrictions must be met.

No respectable shooter I know, and there are lots, would ever buy ammo loaded by some one else.
Its dangerous,
its stupid,
and if you do, you may want to have a trauma kit handy.

assuming that the person giving you the reloads also shoots them then it is "potentially dangerous", no more dangerous than the reloader shooting them , assuming similar firearm capabilities.
