Selling lead - price

Hi all,

What is 30lbs of lead worth in edmonton? It is from scuba weights.

Just called a scrap yard in the Montréal area this afternoon.
They were asking 1$ /lbs

I'm just getting interested in casting. There's a guy on Kijiji selling lead for 3$ to 4$ a pound depending on the type. Realy quick maths told me it was a ripoff but I tought 1$ a pound was more normal.

What is considered a good price?

I dont know what a good price is. Thats why i am asking. So when i sell them i can get a resonable price

$1 per lbs is about normal (kinda high). If I'm buying over 20lbs my local scrap yard is willing to deal (more lead, lesser the price per lbs). But $1 for pure lead is about where the cost is at these days.

I buy scrap lead for about $0.36/lb. Unprocessed all lead wheel weights about $0.65. Processed known lead composition $1. Pure about $1.25. Lino /mono name your price ?

Stuff made out of lead like dive weights and down rigger balls will go for a lot more...$2-$5/lb

Are you looking for pure lead? Dive weights, down rigger balls etc these days can be cast from a mixture of lead, zinc, range lead and wheel weights. Not always pure lead.

Processed ww is going at about $1.50
Pure lead is $2-3 depending.
Lino is $3 and up if you can find it

I have never see it as high as you guys are quoting
All the yards here when buying use the canada scrap metal guide which for lead right now is as below per pound
Clean Mixed Stainless 0.45
Clean Lead 0.40
Batteries 0.25

Always under 75 cents to buy it from them

Good luck selling it at any price on CGN. Shipping costs are crazy and local guys typically want about 10 lbs "to start", want it blessed by an Assayer, and want to pay no more than 50 cents/lb - "cause other guys get it free, and it's no fair to charge very much".
