If I want to sell just a frame does it work the same way as selling the whole gun our do I have to tell the Cfc that its not a complete gun? Any extra paperwork required?

A friend of mine has a Ruger that is registered as a frame only...because it has an aluminum barrel that cannot shoot real ammos; only wax or blanks for fast-draw!

short answer is Yes

True.

If your gun is registered as a firearm you have to make a change first to register it as a receiver only. This is a painless process which can be done while initiating the transfer. Just tell them that you're selling frame only. They're not asking any questions about other parts and why you do it.

You can buy a barrel, slide, magazine and other parts that most manufacturers has serial #s stamped for tracking without a registration involved. A complete firearm has these parts matched. Even a conversion kit needs no registration provided you are not permanently installing this to the frame/receiver. But a frame is the integral part of a firearm that cannot be purchased or sold/transferred without paperwork from CFC.
