I heard something like Ruger new gun in 17HMR just like 10/22 but only in 17HMR.

Does any body knows about it or owns it? or does it even exists?

It is a 10/17 was announced in 2004 but never made it to production. 20" barrel, 9 round mag, hardwood stock, steel receiver. Remington does a 597 with a 5 round mag, synthetic stock.

I like the idea but not the $725.00 price tag for the Magnum Research model. Can almost get an AR for that price.

From what I have read on RFC the semi 17HMR has had problems with K-booms.may have something to do with the high pressure of the cartridge.

Yea, very prevalent problem with the 597 .17

Apparently has something to do with chamber getting fouled up, a round attempting to chamber, and then the firearm firing out of battery.

So, if you keep it clean, you should have no issues.

Also I have no knowledge on the ruger 10/17.

"...announced in 2004 but never made it to production..." Wouldn't be the first time Ruger has done that.
The Magnum Research model is chambered in .17 Mach II(necked down .22 LR). Different cartridge from a .17 HMR(necked down .22 Magnum). Lists at $665US.
The HMR ammmo runs $21.95 per 50. Epp's list the Mach 2 ammo, but no prices. It's less than the HMR on U.S. sites though.

Anyone own a semi .17HMR? I heard nothing but feeding issues from the one person (a friend of a friend) who owns one. But i won't judge off of a single gun.
I have a savage .17hmr bolt and it's great. Not sure i'd go semi unless the accuracy can come close to the bolt.

my understanding is both the ruger and remington models are no longer in production due to accidental discharges.
This is because the required strength of the action return spring causing a spent cartridge, that has failed to clear the extractor, striking and firing the rim of the next cartridge as it is attempting to chamber.
