There are the Valmets listed at the top of the prohib order...and Deckard made mention of the VZ58 which takes AK mags and is chambered for the same cartridge...or one could opt for an SKS. The CZ858 is also an option(almost the same rifle as the VZ58 from what I hear)

The vz 58 and cz 858 are vituallty identical except that the cz 858 has a barrel over 19 inches long which makes it unrestricted as opposed to the 16 inch or so barrel of the vz-58.

also the mags are not AK mags but their own proprietary design - much better made.

that being said from a distance they appear identical to an AK but the firing mechanism is quite different which is why they are legal for importing in Canada. ! have one of each and the triggers are truly excellent on both.

ARGHHH!! The VZ58 does NOT take AK Mags. Can NOT, will NOT, it's impossible!!

Sorry for the rant, but the VZ is nothing like an AK. The calibre is the ONLY common point.

This is true. It's really nothing like an AK. Quite the rifle though! I love mine!

I stand corrected...those who own them would definately know better than me.

My mistake...where is a "blush" icon when you need one? :D

*edit* found one:redface:
