Semi auto belt fed MG-34 rate of fire?

What is the rate of fire of a belt fed semi auto MG-34 from Marstar. I know the U.S. legal semi auto reproduction of the RPD has a cycle limit of 150 Rounds per minute. Thats slower than you can pull the trigger by about 80-90 rpm. Are the Marstar semi autos screwed up in this way. I'm guessing they are, and so are not worth the money. Can anyone conferm this for me??

I don't think many people here can afford to put that rate of fire to the test. Even at "only" 150 rounds per minute that is costing you $190. At $1.25 per round I just don't see a lot of people trying to push it's ROF limits.
 
I think accuracy might be an issue at such a rate of fire too, as would wear on the gun if you routinely shoot it with hundreds of rounds a minute... just seems like a waste of ammo and time.
 
I doubt you could shoot 150 rounds in 1 minutes with a semi auto MG-34, the trigger pull is like 20 pounds.

Well considering they probably designed to and have shot thousands of rounds at high RPM throughout the war I doubt a few hundred on quick semi-auto would really wear it to any degree...

There are some rich basterds out there with deep pockets who can afford to blow hundreds of dollars on these things...just look up the full auto shoots in the states. Blowing through 100 round belts full auto of 8mm, .308 heck even .50cal. Ammo is cheaper down south, but going through a box of .50cal on full auto probably isn't cheap down there nonetheless...
I won't even get into the guys with chainguns!
 
I agree with John@. Got mine off CGN last year and it was a POS, couldn't even pull the bolt back and bore was like the black hole of Calcutta, however it did come with a MG3 tripod, aircraft tripod, belts, starter tabs, ammo carrier and a can of ammo for less than what Marstar was asking just for the gun. Luckily my buddy's an expert at taking them apart and fixing them. After much filing and fiddling, got it to work and now it ain't no POS no more. The more I shoot it, the smoother it gets and the trigger pull's getting lighter too. The bore is now brilliant, seems a few shots is all it needed to clean out all the crud I couldn't get out with a bore brush (also picked up a brand new barrel with original carry case). Re Marstar, yes their website does say they're all sold out, but my buddy gave them a call a couple of months ago and they did have one that was returned and not working properly. My buddy bought it and fixed it, now we have 2 to play with. Ammo is getting a bit hard to find but we have 3-4k of it and should last a while.
 
With my TNW Browning 1919A4 I can fire off bursts of 4-5 rounds pretty quick. Anything more is very hard to keep up due to the very heavy trigger pull. One round each second is easy tho.
 
Thanks for the info guys. it was very helpful and money saving, I had hoped for a smoother action and quick trigger pull, but what can you expect from a gun made in 1934. One would think if they are going to update the action to function as a semi auto, they would atleast update it for quick smooth operation. but I guess thats what they had in mind, a very limited rate of fire. Oh well cant complain too much, at least they arn't banned entirly.

The heavy trigger pull is not to limit the semi auto rate of fire, its how machine guns are made. You pull it once and hold it, its not an assault rifle.

I used to have a CA MG-34 a long time ago, and I dont recall the trigger being TOO heavy.
But I had a chance to play with a TNW semi only one recently and the trigger pull was unbelievably heavy. It was beyond stupid, actually.
Good to hear from Touch that it does get better with use and tinkering.

Hey Mopar, yes, an AA and a MG3 in the back. Right now can't mount the MG34 to either one but TNW makes a $20 block of metal which supposedly should allow the MG34 to be mounted to the MG3. Got pics from their site and will order in Jan.
